Going to China for 12 Months; working as a school teacher; AND creating a private workshop, teaching;

1. Everyday English, or

2. Business English.

The workshop (private tuition for groups) is agreed by the school, in out of school teaching hours, and all income goes to the teacher, unless it's in the "Corridor cities."

To get an explanation of terms we use; such as "Corridor Cites" or "2nd-tier Cities" or "Workshops" please go to the FAQ page, here.

Step 1: You see advertising or you are told about the MMA plan on 'How teachers can go to China, work for 12 months and save $50,000' (or even more), by creating and running

(a) Everyday English Workshops, or

(b) Export & Business Workshops - all with the prior written agreement of the base school; as long as it is outside of nominated school teaching hours.

HELP: Download the report made by two teachers who went to Harbin in northern China. Read their report, here.

HELP: Have a look at the MMA Brochure, which is all about going to China to start a workshop, here.           STEP 2 IS ON THE RIGHT COLUMN

Step 2: You reply to MMA via the advertising or the talk you heard via the grapevine, and they reply to you.

Result! You are confused.

It's true - there is a lot to take in. Most people understand that China is going mad, trying to get enough teachers, so they can learn English. China wants to 'conquer' the world but they need good communication skills.

Take the time to go through the MMA website. Don't rush; try to understand each facet. This is going to be your new life perhaps a full-time professional occupation as an Export & Business Advisor, for years to come, in China and perhaps in the country which imports the Chinese products, in which you have an interest.

The MMA Plan is in 2 parts. Each part is dependent on - and joined - to the other part. Both parts are undertaken together.

Step 2, Part 1: GET AN OFFICIAL JOB, TEACHING ENGLISH, and here, most people understand this. You find and then secure a job in China, as an English language teacher.

There are hundreds of recruiting agencies that can do this for you but there is only one (that we're currently aware of) that can - at the same time negotiate insertion of a clause in the teacher contract that permits him to teach privately, outside of the school's nominated hours.

This unique permission is only good in 2nd tier and lesser tier cities -  and is accepted due to the shortage of English teachers in these cities.

So, step 2, part 1; the teacher gets an official job as English teachers. This comes with all the benefits normally provided.
(Max hours, health care, food, accommodation, air ticket refund, and so on)

Step 2, Part 2: CREATE YOUR OWN PRIVATE WORKSHOPS.
From this step onwards, we will only discuss the creation of the workshops.                                STEP 3 IS - GO TO THE LEFT SIDE NOW

Step 3: You want to secure an opening - before they are all taken - or before the system self-generates and becomes much more difficult to become eligible.

There are 2 ways to proceed now, the first where you make all your own decisions; you choose the city where you want to go, you decide when you want to go, and so on.

The other way forward is to apply to join in with the MMA 'Corridor Cities' plan. This is where MMA decides on where you go; it will be to one of the cities on the coastline between Jiaxing (3 hours by train, southwest of Shanghai) and Zhangzhou (about 1000 km south, of Jiaxing).

Whichever way you choose, the following steps are basically the same.                              STEP 4 IS BELOW

Step 4: You now have to register your interest and get on the system. You can do this immediately and it is a good idea to do just that, so that you are considered first, before someone coming later.

The Accreditations Team in Shanghai, has to view your CV - your resume - and accept your application. Once this is received, work starts to process your documents. From this time onwards you work with the Accreditations Team and and with the NATIONAL PROCUREMENTS AGENT.

When you register you can complete the first form, on this page of the website; register-for-workshops.

NOTE THAT YOU MUST DECIDE ON THIS PAGE WHETHER YOU WANT TO TEACH EVERYDAY ENGLISH OR BUSINESS ENGLISH

You can stop here and you are registered to create EVERYDAY ENGLISH WORKSHOPS in your city of choice. -read on-

Step 5: The process for obtaining a visa and securing a job as an English Teacher varies from province to province.

However there are certain aspects that remain similar.
