DOCUMENTS TO YOUR GOAL
Your 'goal' is to achieve confirmation of the teaching positions of your own persoal choice. This will satisfy you as to; Country & Location; Type of Institution, Salary, Duration of Appointment; plus Benefits.
You will state your requirements on the APPLICATION FORM and if feasibly possible a minimum of three options will be offered to you.
A lot depends on what you choose on the form. Try to be as open as possible so that we can offer you the best teaching appointments.
Passport
Preferably with at least 2 years to run. Note if going to China; no Taiwan entry stamps.
TEFL/TESOL
If you already have such a certificate, we need to see it.
ERF can provide an ESL/EFL Certificate where appropriate.
Visa
The Visa requirement vary with each country. ERF will advice you on how to obtain the visa needed.
Degree; BA, BSc.
Being a holder of any degree will greatly assist your application. ERF can assist in some circumstances.
Background Check
Background checks are typically required to get hired and/or receive a work visa to teach English in East Asia. ERF can assist with the procurement of this document.

Photos - Make sure they’re professional looking! Most jobs want 2 photos, 1 as a head shot and a 2nd as a full body shot (to see that you are dressed professionally). This is how you would look walking in their front door to shake their hand asking for a job and to teach paying customers.

This is your chance to inform your prospective employer what makes you stand out from others. If this is possible you should mention what makes you stand apart, from other applicants. Stating what your skills are in plain (and uncomplicated English), you should emphasise how these traits exceed what is required.

STEPS TO YOUR TEACHING JOB
These are the steps to be followed to acheive your teaching appoints of preference. Up to three options will be given to you. Once you make your selection the appointment cannot be changed, except in exceptional circumstances.
TE.L provides a more comprehensive English language programme to its clients and you will need to be aware of what is involved. Details are shown to you on the following form.
The principle difference is that TE.L proivides individual and group teaching (up to a maximum of 6 students) together with online video and online support. This application IS NOT for teaching online. This form is for appointments teaching face-to-face in one of our active regions: China, Japan, Taiwan or South Koreas.

Teach Online Only
You can remain at home and teach online. This means supervising the students coverage of a series of BETTER FASTER video lessons and assisting with the completion of teaching blocks. This latter is done by Skype or similar interaction. SEE MORE ONLINE ONLY DETAILS.

Teaching Appointment in China
Qualified and friendly English teachers are wanted in China to teach small groups (up to 6 students, mostly but not always adults), using the BF programme in some cases. Where other curricula are established the BF methods are used as support.
Remunerations ranges from 18,000 to 37,000 Chinese Yuan (CNY/RMB). This equates to GBP £2045 to £4205 or USD $2615 to $5370. Your qualifications determine the starting level. One, two or three year appointments with 3-week trips home once every completed year. Bonuses paid for each year completed satisfactorily.

Teaching Appointment in Japan
You can expect to earn from JPN ¥300,000 to ¥450,000 which corresponds to around GBP £2100 to £3150 or USD $2750 to $4100. More if you don't pay tax. Please note you will be deducted approx. ¥40,000 per month for Health Insurance (not negotiable).
Openings for English Teacher can vary with the appointment of
Coordinator (CLT) or Assistant Language Teacher (ALT). The Sports Exchange Adviser (SEA) requires strong althletic abilities.
Contracts are usually for one year, with up to 5 annual renewals.

Teaching Appointment in Taiwan
Schools and universiies usually pay NTD $600+ per hour worked. This is GBP £23+/hour or USD $30+/hour. Some companies will start teachers at up to NTD $700 or even NTD $800 per hour. A few long-term teachers make more than NTD $1200 (USD $40) per hour. This would be for a long-term appointment with a good degree. Teachers work at least 20 to 25 hours a week and some a few hours more, so your wages can add up to GBP £2500 or USD $3250 a month.
A popular choice when deciding where to work is the private ‘cram’ schools (buxibans, in Mandarin). These cram schools provide extra classes in subjects like English for students from all levels to university level.

Teaching Appointment in Sth Korea
No matter what your motivations for teaching abroad may be, South Korea is a fantastic option for teaching ESL in East Asia. Compared to most countries, South Korea offers great starting salaries, numerous benefits, and an unforgettable cultural experience. On a typical teacher's salary, you will be able to save money, live comfortably, and travel.
You will receive free housing in South Korea and no experience needed: You don’t need a background in education, and it’s okay if you don’t have formal teaching experience. All you need is a Bachelors degree… in anything! There are even exceptions to that requirement. Ask ERF for advice if required.
In Korea, you can choose; public school, private schools or companiy.
