If you ask someone 'A' to remember all of the 'times twelve' tables by tomorrow, or, you ask that same person 'B' to remember, just the 'twelve times one, to twelve times twelve, by tomorrow; which would have a chance of being successful, 'A' or 'B'.

You can learn more words faster is to put them in context: Instead of trying to learn lists of random words, put them in sentences.
That way, you know how the word is used in real life. Added Note, if you come up with funny sentences, they'll be easier to memorize.
